DelBene Highlights Efforts to Lower Health Care Costs at Bothell Senior CenterToday, Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (WA-01) hosted a forum at the Northshore Senior Center in Bothell to hear concerns from residents and highlight her work in Congress to lower health care costs. Last week marked the 14th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act, the historic law that has allowed millions of Americans to access affordable, high-quality health care coverage while protecting those with preexisting conditions. In 2023, over 21.3 million Americans, including 270,000 Washingtonians, enrolled in coverage under the Affordable Care Act. It also lowered health insurance premiums by extending enhanced federal subsidies. More than 4 in 5 Washington customers on the Health Benefit Exchange are receiving a federal subsidy of $420 on average on their monthly health insurance premiums because of the Inflation Reduction Act.
“Health care costs are one of the biggest concerns I hear from seniors around our community and it’s a challenge that I’m facing head-on. I want to ensure seniors are aware of the support available to them,” said DelBene. “The Affordable Care Act and the Inflation Reduction Act have made big strides in ensuring our seniors and other Medicare beneficiaries can access affordable high-quality care, but there’s still more to do.
