Suzan Shows Up in WA-01: June 17- June 21

Dear Friend,

It was a pleasure to spend this past week in the district, meeting with local officials and community leaders, and joining in celebration with you. Here’s an update on some of the events I attended.

Celebrating Juneteenth in Kenmore

On Juneteenth, I joined local officials, community members, and students at Kenmore Town Square to honor the emancipation of enslaved Black Americans. The event was a heartfelt celebration of the unwavering strength and resilience of the Black community and a time to recommit to our ongoing work to ensure liberty and justice for all.

Visiting the Saint Edward State Park Lodge in Kenmore

I had the opportunity to tour The Lodge at St. Edwards State Park in Kenmore, a project supported by the federal tax credit program that I championed. This historic investment played a critical role in saving and restoring this landmark, ensuring that future generations can enjoy it for years to come.

Touring the Hope Factory in Seattle

I visited the LIHI Hope Factory to learn more about the Low Income Housing Institute’s impactful work and see their Tiny House Shelters. These shelters provide safe, temporary housing and help residents move toward permanent housing, secure employment, and access supportive services.
