Dear Friend,

I spent the week listening and working with community leaders, veterans, seniors, and families about the challenges they are facing and how I can best advocate for them in Congress. These conversations guide my work to protect Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security, grow our economy, and lower costs. Below are some highlights from this week in WA-01!

Protecting the Affordable Care Act

I hosted a discussion at HealthPoint Bothell on how Trump’s megabill is going to raise health care costs across the board in Washington. Starting next year, the average Washingtonian who gets their coverage from WA Health Plan Finder and receives federal subsidies will see a 65% increase in their monthly premiums – an unaffordable amount for families already struggling to make ends meet. Combined with Medicaid cuts, the law will force 330,000 Washingtonians to lose their health coverage. I’m fighting to lower costs so people can get the care they need.

Protecting Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security

I met with seniors across our community this week to discuss how we protect Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security. Our seniors deserve affordable health care and the retirement benefits they’ve earned. The Trump administration is forcing benefit and service cuts to these programs and putting seniors’ lives and livelihoods at risk. I’m going to keep standing up to protect these programs.

Honoring Vietnam Veterans

I had the honor of hosting a pinning ceremony for Vietnam veterans at the Snohomish Senior Center. We must continue to honor the sacrifice and service that our veterans have made for our rights and freedoms.

Lake Washington Tech

Access to affordable child care is a top concern in our region. That’s why I was excited to visit Lake Washington Tech and see the progress on its new Early Learning Center, which will provide quality care to the community. I secured $1 million in federal funding to help make this project happen and cannot wait to see it completed soon.
