Dear friend,
House Republicans have wasted yet another week in Congress - led by their most extreme members - pushing dangerous government funding bills loaded up with unpopular and dangerous provisions that would harm American families and weaken our national security. Their plan would undermine our infrastructure investments, reverse our progress in fighting climate change, and jeopardize the good-paying clean energy jobs we’ve created, while hitting hardworking families with higher energy costs.
Several of the partisan bills were pulled from consideration because of Republicans own infighting. I voted against these extreme measures. The Senate is advancing separate, bipartisan bills that will fund the government and prevent a shutdown, leaving the House’s partisan legislation with no path forward. I will continue urging House Republicans to work with Democrats to find a bipartisan agreement before funding runs out at the end of September.
