Instead of delivering relief, this bill will:
- Strip health coverage from 274,000 Washingtonians
- Cut food assistance by $300 billion, hurting 880,000 people on SNAP in WA
- Ban abortion coverage on Washington Health Benefits Exchange plans
- Raise energy bills by $110 on average by repealing clean energy tax credits
Before the vote, Democrats spent more than 20 hours in the Rules Committee fighting to fix some of the more harmful provisions in the bill. I introduced two amendments: one to expand the Child Tax Credit, which helped cut child poverty nearly in half, and another to restore Congress’s trade authority to reign in Trump’s harmful tariffs that are hurting Washington families and businesses.
I also joined Ranking Member Jim McGovern to break down what this bill means for families & how Democrats are fighting back. You can watch our discussion below.
