Dear friend,
The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) that President Biden signed into law in August 2022 is the most significant federal investment in U.S. history to tackle the climate crisis and strengthen American energy security. What does this mean for Washington families? It means you could save money on your energy bills through discounts on installing energy-efficient products and appliances.
Starting next year, the law provides Washington families with:
Up to $1,200 tax credit for adding insulation or installing efficient windows and doors and up to $2,000 credit for electric heat pumps
Up to $8,000 rebate for home efficiency improvements including electric appliances and home retrofits
A tax credit to cover up to 30% of installation costs for home solar and battery storage
Up to $7,500 tax credit to purchase new electric vehicles and up to $4,000 for used ones
As the bill gets implemented, I will be in touch to share more information on the specifics of these incentives and how to take advantage of them.
In the meantime, you can use Rewiring America’s Inflation Reduction Act Savings Calculator available here to get an estimate on what savings your household can receive.
The White House also has resources and information about the law’s climate savings available here.
