Dear Friend,

With flowers blooming again across our region, it was great to spend this week all over our community attending events and meeting with constituents. Below are some exciting highlights.

2024 Congressional Art Competition

This week, I announced Eileen Wang, a high school freshman from Bellevue, as the winner of the 2024 Congressional Art Competition from WA-01. Her oil painting, “Retrograde” will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year. We had such great interest in the competition this year and we thanked everyone who participated at a reception in Redmond.

Washington State Beekeepers Association Visit in Redmond

Honeybees are critical to our agricultural production, but climate change is threatening hives & bee populations around the state. I visited Don’s apiary in Redmond to hear all the buzz about how lawmakers can protect these critical pollinators. Thank you to Don and all the Washington State Beekeeper Association members for the work they’re doing.

ZeroAvia Propulsion Center Opening in Everett

Washington has a long history of aerospace innovation and that continued this week when I joined ZeroAvia for the grand opening of their new propulsion manufacturing facility. Our region is going to produce the cutting-edge hydrogen-powered plane components that will help revolutionize aviation and reduce carbon emissions.

Sound Transit 2 Line – Redmond > Bellevue

I got a sneak peek earlier this week at Sounds Transit’s 2 Line that opens today! This 8-station line will link Bellevue to Redmond, better connecting Eastsiders to work, fun, & their loved ones. Find out more about the 2 Line here.
