Dear Friend,

I spent the week listening and working with community leaders, business owners, students, and families about the challenges they are facing and how I can best advocate for them in Congress. These conversations guide my work to grow our economy, lower costs, and protect health care.

One Year of Trump’s Tariffs

This week marked the one-year anniversary of President Trump’s reckless ‘Liberation Day’ tariffs. I continue to hear from our community about how these tariffs are raising costs for families and small businesses. Congress cannot sit on the sidelines as the president tries to put more tariffs in place. Republicans need to join Democrats to stop this economic chaos.

Free Tax Prep Assistance

Tax Day is April 15. I stopped by the AARP Foundation Tax Aide prep site in Bellevue to highlight this resource in our community. If you need assistance, you can find your local VITA or AARP Foundation Tax Aide location here.

Shopify Roundtable

I held a roundtable at Shopify's Bellevue office to hear from local entrepreneurs about how tariffs are hurting small businesses. We also discussed how they can leverage AI to grow their businesses.

Lake Stevens High School Class

I visited Mr. Hayman’s AP Government & Politics class at Lake Stevens High School and answered questions from students on a broad set of issues. It was great to speak with so many young leaders who care about the world around them.

Northwest ICE Detention Center Visit

I toured the Northwest ICE Detention Center in Tacoma. As a member of Congress, it is my duty to conduct oversight and make sure ICE is following the law. Lawmakers must have access to these facilities to ask questions and get answers from ICE and GEO, the private company that operates the facility.
