Since January 20, President Donald Trump and advisors like Elon Musk have taken aggressive, sweeping actions to attack the federal workforce and IT systems, which harms every American who counts on Social Security, Medicare, veterans’ benefits, and other critical federal services, and threatens their privacy.
I am committed to a strong and nonpartisan civil service that can deliver for the American people. I oppose Trump’s actions to purge the civil workforce and try to force dedicated public servants to resign. I remain concerned that the proposed “deferred resignation” is a dubious tactic meant to dismantle the federal government.
