DelBene Celebrates National Trails Day Restoring Alpine Lakes

SNOQUALMIE – Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (WA-01) today helped the Washington Trails Association restore trails near Alpine Lakes.

“National Trails Day is a perfect time to celebrate and preserve outdoor recreation opportunities that make living in the Pacific Northwest so special,” DelBene said. “The Alpine Lakes Wilderness is particularly important because of its proximity to Seattle. It provides a place for countless residents and tourists to hike some of the most spectacular trails the Northwest has to offer, which is why we must ensure they are here for future generations.”

Outdoor recreation supports 200,000 jobs in Washington and contributes more than $20 billion a year to the state economy. DelBene backs efforts to increase investments in trail maintenance, expand wilderness and preserve outdoor recreation opportunities to help support one of the state’s most important industries and recreational activities.

DelBene, along with Senator Patty Murray and Congressman Dave Reichert, helped ensure the passage of legislation to expand the Alpine Lakes Wilderness and designate the Pratt and Middle Fork Snoqualmie Rivers as wild and scenic.
