WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (WA-01) today released the following statement on the 45th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade, which ruled that women have a constitutional right to decide whether and when to have a child:

“In the more than four decades since Roe v. Wade, it has become clear that some will stop at nothing to obstruct women’s reproductive rights, despite the Supreme Court and 7 in 10 Americans believing women should have the right to choose,” DelBene said. “As we commemorate the anniversary of this milestone for women, we must recommit to protecting its legacy and defending women’s health for generations to come.”

DelBene serves as a leader of the House Pro-Choice Caucus and has opposed efforts to defund Planned Parenthood, limit access to birth control and restrict women’s reproductive rights.
