DelBene Named Co-Chair of the Congressional App Challenge

Today, Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (WA-01) accepted her nomination as Co-Chair of this year’s Congressional App Challenge. The post was previously held by Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-CA).

“As someone who built a career in tech, I am thrilled to help lead this national competition and to see up close the incredible ideas students from all across the country will bring to the table. STEM careers play a critical role in our 21st century economy and this competition serves a great opportunity for students to demonstrate their coding skills,” said DelBene.

The Congressional App Challenge is a national competition held annually since 2015. Middle and high school students in each congressional district can sign up as individuals or in groups of up to four. Winners from each district are publicly recognized by their representative and are invited to Washington, D.C. to demo their app at the #HouseofCode reception in the Spring.

The deadline for students to submit their app is October 15th. Interested students can click here to register. Congresswoman DelBene’s office is also hosting their third “Appathon” in conjunction with this event on October 13th and 14th. More information and the student sign up can be found here.

Congresswoman DelBene serves on the House Ways and Means Committee and serves as Co-Chair of the Internet of Things Caucus.
