Suzan Shows Up

Dear Friend,

Last week I continued my #SuzanShowsUp tour of our beautiful region. I was fortunate to spend so much time learning about the great things people are doing in our community, and to tell you about what we’re doing in the “other Washington” to help improve people’s lives.

On Thursday, I joined Senator Maria Cantwell to rally in support of our bill, the Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act of 2019, which would expand and strengthen the Affordable Housing Tax Credit to produce more affordable housing and better serve at-risk and underserved communities throughout Washington state and the nation. Our bill would help build more than 9,700 new affordable housing units in Washington over ten years, in addition to the hundreds of units built each year through the program. The bill will also provide more than 11,000 jobs and add over $1 billion to the Washington economy in wages and business income.

I also helped handed out meals to school-age children in Kenmore as a part of the Summer Meals program, which works to ensure children do not have to go hungry just because school is out for the summer. I attended Washington Wild’s Alpine Lakes Additions 5 Year anniversary to commemorate the passage of my Alpine Lakes Wilderness and Wild and Scenic Rivers Act, which has helped protect our region’s vast wilderness and beauty. Finally, I capped off the week with the second annual Utsav Mela festival in Snohomish, a celebration of South Asian culture and the South Asian American community in Washington.

As always, I am here to help you. If you need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact my Bothell office at (425) 485-0085. If you have questions or comments about the topics that matter most to you, I encourage you to contact me through my website. Sincerely,

Suzan
