Women’s rights are under attack from the Trump administration. Recently, Planned Parenthood withdrew from Title X funding because of the administration’s new gag rule which forbids clinics receiving Title X funding from referring patients to abortion providers.

Last week I joined Governor Inslee, Attorney General Bob Ferguson, King County Executive Dow Constantine, PPGNHI CEO Chris Charbonneau, patient advocates, and many others to rally in support of Planned Parenthood’s decision not to comply with the administration’s rule, and instead withdraw from seeking Title X funding.

If Planned Parenthood had complied with this rule, they would not be able to inform or provide patients with all of their available options for reproductive health care. As one of the leaders of the House Pro-Choice Caucus I take this very seriously, and I believe every person deserves to know all their options so they can make a fully informed decision about their health care. I support Planned Parenthood’s necessary decision to withdraw from Title X funding in favor of the ability to continue providing their patients with the highest standard of care.
