How we are strengthening our supply chains & spurring American innovation

Dear friend,

Right now, working families across the country are feeling the effects of strained supply chains with goods taking longer to arrive and prices going up.

This week, the House took critical steps to ease inflation and make our economy more resilient by advancing the America COMPETES Act. This bold legislative package will accelerate research and innovation, invest in American workers, and help bring critical supply chains home. It also includes several provisions that I secured to specifically help the Washington state economy and its workers.

The bill includes $52 billion to address the global short supply of semiconductors—computer chips needed to produce critical goods, such as trucks, medical devices, information technology, and more—and strengthen domestic manufacturing. With strategic, long-term investments in research, this legislation would also help the U.S. remain a global leader in technology and innovation.

This legislation is a golden opportunity to tackle the challenges we face today, lessen the burden on working families, and invest in American competitiveness for years to come. We now have to reconcile this bill with the legislation passed in the Senate last year and I’m pushing to get this to President Biden’s desk as soon as possible.

As always, I am here to help you. If you need assistance during this difficult time, please don’t hesitate to leave a message at my Kirkland office at (425) 485-0085. For more updates on what I’m doing for WA-01, you can follow me on social media at the links above.
