Biden Administration Making High-Speed Broadband Free for Millions of Families

Dear friend,

Broadband should be affordable, accessible, and reliable, but for far too many families this is not the case. This week, President Biden made a major announcement that will allow millions of families to get free access to high-speed internet in their homes.

The Biden administration secured commitments from national and regional internet service providers to lower the cost of their plans to $30 a month or less for qualifying families. This includes providers in Washington state such as Comcast, Astound, Frontier, and others.

This is on top of a program in the historic bipartisan infrastructure law that allows families to receive up to $30 per month to lower their internet bills. Together, this means high-speed internet will be free for millions of eligible families across the country.

We are making great strides to achieving universal broadband, but there is more to do to ensure every community has access to affordable and reliable internet. I will keep working with the Biden administration and our local leaders to achieve that goal.
