DelBene Statement on International Women’s Day

Today, Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (WA-01) released the following statement on International Women’s Day.

“International Women’s Day is a moment to celebrate the generations of women who overcame relentless adversity and systemic discrimination. When women thrive, so do their economies, cultures, and societies.

“But the fight for equality is far from over, especially for women of color. Women in the U.S. still face too many barriers to their success and a renewed assault on their freedoms. It is long past time that Congress pass legislation that ensures all Americans have access to reproductive health care, paid family leave, gender-affirming care, and equal pay, and are protected from gender-based violence and discrimination. These steps would demonstrate our values as a nation and set an example for the world.

“On this day, and every day, we must recommit ourselves to full equality for women in America and around the globe.”
