Suzan Shows Up in WA-01: February 20-24

Dear Friend,

I spent another week meeting with leaders across the 1st district discussing the issues that are important to our communities, and how I can use my voice in Congress to deliver for you.

Arlington

I had the opportunity to meet with Arlington Mayor Barb Tolbert and tour the Arlington Airport to learn more about how federal investments from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law are being used by the airport and future infrastructure improvements. During my visit I met with Arlington Schools’ Superintendent Dr. Sweeting to hear about the school district’s priorities and how Congress can support our local schools. I also met with Police Chief Jonathan Ventura to discuss the work they’re doing to serve the community and hear about the public safety needs in north Snohomish County.

Marysville

I met with Marysville Mayor Jon Nehring and other City officials to welcome Marysville into the 1st district. I was able to see several major projects and discuss how we can work together to deliver for families and local businesses. I also met with Police Chief Erik Scairpon to hear about their work and the needs of the community.

Housing Hope

It was an honor to join Housing Hope for the opening of their new 60-unit affordable housing project. This project will make a huge difference in our community for families in need of a safe place to call home. But we know there are many more families who need affordable housing, which is why I’m pushing to strengthen and expand the tax credits that helped fund this project to build an additional 2 million more affordable homes across the country over the next decade.

Standing With Ukraine

This week also marked one year since Putin launched an unprovoked war on Ukraine. Since the invasion began, the U.S. has provided critical military, economic, and humanitarian aid to Ukraine, and our region has opened its doors to Ukrainian families and children fleeing the violence. I’ll continue doing all I can in Congress to support Ukrainians in need and organizations that are providing aid.

As always, I look forward to spending time with you at meetings, events, and other activities across the district. Let’s continue to work together to move the 1st District forward.
