DelBene Celebrates 13th Anniversary of the Affordable Care Act

Today, Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (WA-01) released the following statement on the anniversary of the Affordable Care Act.

“Thirteen years ago, the Affordable Care Act changed health care in the United States forever. Now, over 35 million Americans have gained quality, affordable health care as a result. This law has become a pillar of American society, providing families the comfort of knowing that taking their kids to the doctor won’t bankrupt them or allowing entrepreneurs to start a new business while still taking care of themselves.

“But Democrats did not stop there. In the Inflation Reduction Act, we extended the enhanced Affordable Care Act health insurance subsidies that are saving Americans an average of $800 per year on their premiums and lowered the price of prescription drugs for millions of seniors, leaving money left over for other essentials.

“We must keep building on the progress of this law and push back on Republican efforts to repeal, defund, and undermine it. These cruel efforts to strip away health coverage from millions of Americans have been resoundingly rejected time and time again. The Affordable Care Act is here to stay.”
