DelBene on House Passage of Final FY24 Government Funding Agreement
WASHINGTON, DC ,
March 22, 2024
Today, Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (WA-01) released the following statement after the House of Representatives passed a bipartisan agreement to fund the federal government for the remainder of fiscal year 2024. “House Democrats have always been committed to finding a way to make governance work for the American people. Halfway into this fiscal year and after avoiding multiple Republican shutdown threats, House Democrats delivered the bulk of the votes to finally turn the page on the Fiscal Year 24 government funding process. “Democrats stood firm against House Republicans' extreme funding cuts and draconian policy changes that would have hurt hardworking Americans and our economy. However, we could have gotten this done sooner if Republicans had accepted the reality that bipartisan solutions are the only viable path forward in divided government. “I urge the Senate to swiftly approve this package and send it to President Biden.” The first half of the FY24 government funding agreement was signed into law on March 9, 2024. It contains $18 million for 15 community projects in Washington’s 1st Congressional District. More information about the projects can be found here. |
