2026 General Election Key Dates:
- October 16 is the deadline for ballots to be mailed out by county election offices. Ballots for eligible military and overseas voters are mailed no later than 45 days prior to Election Day.
October 26 is the deadline to register or update your address online. You may also register and vote in person at a county voting center through Election Day.
November 3 is General Election Day. If you are registered to vote, your ballot is mailed automatically and there's no need to request one. If you mail your ballot, the Secretary of State’s office recommends doing so no later than a week before Election Day. After that, use a drop box. Ballots must be put in a drop box by 8pm on Election Day. Confirm or update your voter registration information today at VoteWA.gov.
Voter Best Practices:
- Vote Early: WA is a vote-by-mail state. Make a plan to return your ballot and VOTE EARLY! Ballot drop boxes and voting center locations can be found here.
- Review State Election Guidelines: Check it once, then check it again. Visit Washington Secretary of State's election website for information to make a plan to vote.
- Ballot Tracking: Every vote must be counted. If you voted using a mail-in ballot, you can make sure that your ballot was counted by tracking it here.
- Tune out the Noise: While it feels like the 2026 election has been anything but normal, remember that American elections are safe and secure. Don’t let the news dissuade you from making your voice heard at the ballot box.
