I’m committed to holding President Trump and his administration accountable and standing up to their blatant abuses of power. In a moment when our civil liberties, our personal freedoms, and democracy are under attack, I am working with my House Democratic colleagues to protect communities around the country. This includes pushing back against the White House’s illegal actions, fighting for transparency, and challenging these power grabs in court.

Standing Up to The White House
Since taking office, the president has implemented numerous harmful policies that are hurting Washingtonians. Here are some of the actions I’ve taken to stand up to Trump through legislation and Congressional oversight:
- Supported a successful effort to force a vote on releasing the Epstein Files.
- Championed legislation to ensure the president cannot impose sweeping tariffs without Congress’s approval
- Led demands to investigate corruption following Trump’s illegal firing of 18 independent government watchdogs
- Supported legislation to hold ICE accountable by requiring agents to identify themselves clearly and prohibit agents from terrorizing sensitive locations, including hospitals, schools, and day cares.
- Led demands to investigate unprecedented and illegal access to the personal sensitive information of taxpayers
- Introduced legislation to prevent Trump from reassigning IRS criminal investigators to immigration enforcement without proper training and oversight
Fighting for Transparency
The Trump administration has regularly abused executive powers and denied the public answers on important questions. Here are some of the actions I’ve taken to fight for transparency and stop corruption:
- Demanded answers from the IRS on its illegal sharing of private taxpayer information with immigration enforcement.
- Pressed the administration for accountability when DOGE illegally accessed private taxpayer data, including Social Security information.
- Demanded transparency from the administration when it illegally froze federal funding for critical programs.
- Called out the administration’s troubling partnership with private tech companies, including the exchange of private, personal information.
- Pushed for an investigation into DOGE staff illegally accessing private information in federal employee databases.
- Raised concerns about the consolidation of Americans’ health information within the government.
Challenging in Court
The fight to hold the Trump administration accountable often lands in court. Democratic members of Congress, state attorneys general, advocates, and American citizens are taking Trump to court to hold him accountable for his illegal actions. Here are the amicus briefs I’ve signed onto to protect our Constitution in court:
- Defending the constitutional right to birthright citizenship.
- Unfreezing millions of illegally withheld federal dollars supporting lifesaving medical research.
- Stopping Trump’s illegal tariffs that raised prices on working families and small businesses.
- Preventing Trump from violating Congress’s constitutional power to approve federal spending.
- Protecting reproductive freedom amid Republican efforts to block health insurance coverage of reproductive care
