DelBene Invites #WA01 High School Students to Compete in Congressional App Challenge

BOTHELL – Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (WA-01) is reminding Washington’s First District high school students that her office is now accepting submissions for the Second Annual Congressional App Challenge. The deadline for submissions is Jan. 15, 2016.

“As someone who worked in the technology sector before coming to Congress, I know firsthand that innovation requires creative, entrepreneurial leaders. The future of our nation and its economy depend on next generations being able to think outside of the box. This competition is a great opportunity for high school students to compete against other students in our district by designing a creative app,” DelBene said. “Computer science is a growing career field, not only in the First District but across the nation, and I encourage all interested students to compete in this year’s Congressional App Challenge.”

The contest is open to all students in grades 9-12 who either reside or attend high school in Washington’s First Congressional District. Students are allowed to compete individually or in teams of up to four, but only one app can be submitted per student or team.

The winner of the challenge will be announced on Feb. 15, 2016. The winning app will be showcased on DelBene’s website and displayed in an U.S. Capitol exhibit.

To participate, students can register at: http://delbene.house.gov/serving-you/house-app-contest. More information can also be found on the Congressional App Challenge website, www.congressionalappchallenge.us.
