BOTHELL – Congresswoman Suzan DelBene released the following statement on President Obama seeking a vote in Congress on the use of military force in Syria: “I commend the President for requesting a vote in Congress on the use of military force in Syria. “The Assad regime’s use of chemical weapons, resulting in the deaths of Syrian civilians, is appalling, tragic and must be condemned by the world. “I oppose the Bashar al-Assad regime, but I am concerned about the U.S. getting into another long-term military operation without clearly defined objectives. As I stated previously, any military action in Syria must be done with careful consultation with Congress and the American people. I will be listening to my constituents, the President, my colleagues and our military leadership in the coming days in preparation for this important vote. I look forward to an open and honest debate about the potential impacts of U.S. military intervention in Syria.” # # # |
