DelBene Announces Congressional Art Competition

BOTHELL – Today, Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (WA-01) called on local high school-aged students to participate in the annual Congressional Art Competition by submitting artwork by Friday, April 8, at 5 p.m.

The contest is open to all students in grades 9-12 who either reside or attend high school in Washington’s First Congressional District. The winning entry will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year and runners-up will be displayed in DelBene’s congressional office.

To participate, students must complete and submit an entry form, which can be found at: http://delbene.house.gov/serving-you/art-competition.

Entry forms need to be signed by the student, a parent or guardian and a faculty member, and mailed or delivered to the Congresswoman’s office by Friday, April 8, along with the artwork to:

DelBene will host an awards reception on Monday, April 25, to showcase the submissions, honor all participants and announce the winners.

The competition, which was initiated by Congress in 1982, involves hundreds of thousands of high school students from across the nation. One piece of artwork from each congressional district is displayed in the Cannon Tunnel of the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, D.C.
