MOUNT VERNON – Today, the boards of Skagit Valley Hospital and Cascade Valley Hospital voted to begin negotiating a partnership with PeaceHealth/UW Medicine. Congresswoman Suzan DelBene issued the following statement:

“Today's decision by Skagit Valley Hospital and Cascade Valley Hospital to move forward with negotiations on a partnership with a larger hospital network will have a significant impact on how Skagit County residents receive their healthcare.

“I appreciate that in their deliberations with PeaceHealth and UW Medicine, the hospitals focused on ensuring that patients will maintain access to a full range of health services, including end-of-life services and reproductive care. However, it is very important in the coming months that the hospitals and PeaceHealth work diligently in negotiations to protect access to reproductive health care, including birth control and abortion. I look forward to seeing the specific arrangements made to protect the delivery of these vital services.”
