Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (WA-01) has been appointed to serve on the House Republicans’ new Energy and Commerce Select Committee to Attack Women’s Health. “I hope this will be a fair and honest investigation, rather than a venue for political theater,” DelBene said. “So far, there has been no evidence of unlawful activity by Planned Parenthood, a healthcare provider that one-in-five women have used in her lifetime. I will push for this Committee to focus on the facts, not an ideological war against women’s access to healthcare.” Last month, Republicans tried to defund Planned Parenthood, which provides essential healthcare, such as cancer screenings and immunizations, to 2.7 million patients. Congress has voted 18 times this year to limit women’s healthcare choices. DelBene will be joined by Reps. Jan Schakowsky (IL-09), Jerrold Nadler (NY-10), Diana DeGette (CO-01), Jackie Speier (CA-14) and Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12) on the Select Committee. ### |
