DelBene Statement on Historic Preservation Grants for Tribes in Washington State

Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (WA-01) released the following statement today, after the National Park Service awarded grants to several tribes in Washington state. “I am pleased the National Park Service has awarded these grants to several Washington state tribes, including two in the First Congressional District, the Lummi and Nooksack,” DelBene said. “It is crucial to continue supporting the historic preservation of tribal places and cultures, and these grants are a great step towards achieving that goal.” The National Park Service awarded 154 historic preservation grants to American Indian tribes, totaling nearly $8.8 million. Thirteen tribes in Washington state received a total of $731,018. The grants will help fulfill historic preservation program responsibilities on tribal lands across the country. ### |
