Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (WA-01) today issued the following statement after Republicans’ latest taxpayer-funded Select Panel was used as a venue for political theater:

“This taxpayer-funded Committee was created by Republicans nearly five months ago after a group of anti-choice extremists made a series of false, unsubstantiated allegations about Planned Parenthood,” DelBene said. “I hope Americans see through this charade. The Majority’s allegations and insinuations are rooted in extreme ideological opinions about women’s rights — not science, and not facts. Our constituents deserve better.”

DelBene is an appointed member of Republicans’ Select Panel to Attack Women’s Health, which was established to investigate Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers after a group of anti-choice extremists released doctored videos – leaders of that group have since been indicted by a grand jury for tampering with records. In her role on the Select Panel, DelBene is fighting to protect women’s access to healthcare and safeguard the privacy and safety of doctors, patients and medical students across the country.
