DelBene statement on President Obama’s State of the Union

Congresswoman Suzan DelBene released the following statement reacting to the President’s 2014 State of the Union address to the nation:

“One of the greatest challenges facing us as a nation is how we grow our economy, create jobs and expand opportunity for all. This evening, the President made a strong case for policies that will help us build the foundation for long-term economic growth.

“I’m pleased that he called for renewing emergency unemployment insurance, raising the federal minimum wage, making college more affordable and investing in early education, job-training programs and our nation’s infrastructure. Moving forward on these proposals will help working families, spur job growth and strengthen our economy.

“I am hopeful that Congress can build on recent bipartisan agreements, such as the budget and the Conference Committee-approved Farm Bill, to move forward on these other common sense policies to get our economy moving forward. I am eager to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to get the job done. Washington state families, businesses and seniors are counting on us to set aside the partisan rhetoric and deliver results.”
