DelBene Statement on President Obama’s Upcoming Visit to SR 530 Slide in April

Earlier today, Congresswoman Suzan DelBene spoke with President Obama about the devastating landslide along State Route 530. During their conversation, the President notified her that he would be visiting the site on April 22nd. DelBene issued the following statement:

“This morning I spoke with the President to discuss the tragic landslide along State Route 530, the ongoing recovery efforts and the federal government’s continued commitment to do everything it can to help the victims, their families and all those affected by this tragic disaster.

“During the call, the President and I talked about his visiting the slide area. He told me that he will be visiting on April 22nd to view the devastation caused by the slide and meet with the families affected by the disaster, as well as the brave first responders and recovery workers.

“Additionally, the President informed me that he will move quickly to sign into law legislation that was recently passed by Congress to save the historic Green Mountain Lookout near Darrington.”
