Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (WA-01) released the following statement today following the signing of normalization agreements between Israel and the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain:

“Today is an important step forward on the long road towards durable Middle East peace. The signing of normalization agreements between Israel and the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain is welcome news in the United States and the Gulf region and is the result of years of multilateral efforts. I hope that other countries in the region will soon follow this path.

“I look forward to receiving the full details of these agreements including the announced freeze of Israel’s efforts to annex parts of the West Bank and any arms sales to Gulf states. We must take this important moment to recommit ourselves to diplomacy in pursuit of a two-state solution, a secure Israel, and long-term stability in the Middle East.”
