House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee Advances Over $17.6 Million in DelBene Requests for WA-01 Infrastructure Projects

Today, the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure advanced over $17.6 million in infrastructure projects for Washington’s 1st Congressional District championed by Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (WA-01), including road and bridge repairs, culvert replacements, and trail connections.

In April, DelBene submitted a list of projects to the committee for consideration. The committee included nine of DelBene’s requests in its surface transportation reauthorization bill, the INVEST in America Act. The legislation must still pass the full House of Representatives and Senate before it can be signed into law.

“Infrastructure means jobs and long-term economic growth in our communities. I welcome the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee’s support of these projects throughout Washington’s 1st Congressional District. These resources will go a long way towards getting people back to work and revitalizing our communities following the COVID-19 pandemic,” said DelBene. “Infrastructure is more than roads and bridges, however. It is what connects us to our jobs, families, and lives. That’s why we need to also pass the American Jobs Plan that will help us expand affordable broadband access, create more affordable housing, and invest in our caregiving workforce.”

The projects included in the legislation are:

Project submissions came directly from city, county, Tribal, and state entities, and all requests submitted to the committee were done in collaboration with project sponsors.

DelBene recently visited the U.S. 2 Trestle in Lake Stevens to highlight the need to replace aging structure and pass infrastructure legislation.
