Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (WA-01) released the following statement today on the passing of AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka: 

“We lost a fierce champion of workers’ rights in Richard Trumka today. Richard dedicated his life to advocating for unions across the country and around the world. Throughout his decades-long career in the labor movement and his leadership at AFL-CIO, he fought tirelessly to protect the right to organize, promote worker-centered trade policies, and secure workplace protections.  

“The legacy of his work will live on through the millions he inspired and mobilized around meaningful change for laborers and their families. He put it best when he said, ‘We will not rest until this nation can finally wake up to equality and justice for all.’ My thoughts are with his loved ones and the entire AFL-CIO community during this difficult time.”
