Dear friend, 80 percent of Washington adults are expected to receive a stimulus check from the American Rescue Plan, and the IRS has already begun depositing money directly into bank accounts. In most cases, these payments are automatic, and you don’t need to do anything to receive them. If you have not received a payment, you can check the status of your stimulus using the Get My Payment tool from the IRS below:Get My Payment Help is here, and I want to get these resources to you as quickly as possible so you can pay bills and care for your families. Here’s more on what you need to know about receiving your stimulus check. What Should You Expect? You may have already started seeing payments show up in your bank accounts if the IRS processed your 2019 or 2020 taxes or if you previously used the “non-filer portal” to receive payments and provided your bank account information to the IRS. Recipients of other federal benefits, like Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, or Railroad Retirement Board benefits, should expect to receive a payment automatically as well. Starting this week, veterans who receive Compensation and Pension benefits and don’t normally file a tax return should start seeing their checks in their bank accounts. For those who have not received their check yet or those without direct deposit information on file with the IRS, watch your mail carefully for a paper check or debit card. Some of these checks were mailed already, but most paper checks or debit cards will be mailed over the next several weeks. How Many Washingtonians Will Get Payments? According to the Biden administration, more than 4.4 million adults and 1.6 million children in Washington are eligible to receive payments of up to $1,400 per person through the American Rescue Plan. That means 80% of all adults in the state and 77% of all children in the state will receive payments. Who is Eligible for Payments? People earning up to $75,000 annually and couples earning up to $150,000 annually will receive the full $1,400 per person, for themselves and their children and dependents. Above that income, the checks begin to phase out, with payments stopping at people earning over $80,000 and married couples earning over $160,000.\ As always, I am here to help you.
