DelBene Announces $750K to Strengthen Family Planning Services in WA

Today, Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (WA-01) announced that a $750,000 U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) grant is being awarded to the Washington State Department of Health to fortify Title X family planning services and expand reproductive health care access across the state.

This grant program was made possible by the American Rescue Plan and will help protect patients and providers in response to recent challenges to Roe v. Wade, including Texas Law SB 8.

“This is a critical and timely investment that will help our state family planning clinics expand essential services and care they provide to our communities,” said DelBene. “As reproductive freedom and rights are under attack across our country, we must renew our efforts to secure equitable access to safe abortions, contraception, and other reproductive care. On the eve of the 49th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, these are wins that we can rejoice in as our fight to protect reproductive health care continues.”

DelBene is on the Congressional Pro-Choice Caucus executive committee. The HHS announcement can be read here.
