DelBene Statement on Second Anniversary of First COVID-19 Death in U.S.

Today, Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (WA-01) issued the following statement on the second anniversary of the first identified COVID-19 death in the United States at the Life Care Center in Kirkland, WA in her congressional district.

“No one knew how this virus would forever change our lives when the first death was reported in our community two years ago. The pandemic has taken our loved ones and livelihoods from us and challenged us all in ways we never thought possible.

“Two years later, we have the tools and information that will allow us to live with this virus and begin to return to some sense of normalcy. I am incredibly thankful to all the essential workers from medical professionals to grocery store employees, public health officials to sanitation workers, who have put in long hours to keep our communities safe during some of the darkest days of the pandemic.

“I see better days ahead for us where we can build back better than before.”
