DelBene Delivers $3M for New Snohomish Sewer Line

Today, Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (WA-01) presented the City of Snohomish with a $3 million check for critical upgrades to its sewer system. DelBene secured the investment in the FY23 federal funding package.

This federal investment will enable Snohomish to complete its North Sewer Line Trunk Extension Project, which will revitalize and reinforce the city’s sewer system for future capacity needs. This project will also unlock opportunities for increased affordable housing and laying the foundation for sustainable development.

“This federal funding paves the way for much-needed improvements to Snohomish’s sewer system while addressing the web of infrastructure gaps that have hindered the city’s housing and commerce development,” said DelBene. “This project will usher in a new era of expanded, reliable services with reduced maintenance needs, setting the stage for a more resilient and prosperous Snohomish.”

“Snohomish appreciates Congresswoman DelBene securing this funding to help us build the infrastructure necessary to support additional housing and economic development,” said Snohomish Mayor Linda Redmon. “This work has been needed by the community for a long time and we are pleased to be able to move forward thanks to this funding."

DelBene secured $19.4 million for 15 community projects across Washington’s 1st Congressional District in the FY23 federal funding package. Projects came directly from non-profit, city, county, Tribal, and state entities, and all funding secured was done in collaboration with project sponsors.
