DelBene Connects Job-Seekers, Employers at Annual First District Career Fair

BOTHELL – Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (WA-01) today hosted the third annual First Congressional District career fair at University of Washington Bothell.

“My top priority in Congress is helping to create good-paying jobs and build the foundation for long-term economic growth. Despite lower unemployment rates nationally, too many working families are still struggling to make ends meet,” DelBene said. “That’s why I’m working to boost workers’ earning potential by connecting them with jobs in high-demand fields through my third annual career fair, which helps connect those who are under-employed, struggling to find work or looking to change jobs to potential new employers.”

More than 20 First District employers are expected to have booths at the fair, including Boeing, Puget Sound Energy, Romac Industries and Macy’s. This is the third career fair hosted by DelBene in conjunction with WorkSource to serve jobseekers in King, Snohomish, Skagit and Whatcom counties.

“Workforce Snohomish is proud to partner with Congresswoman DelBene’s office and regional employers to provide this valuable service to our community. Individuals who are struggling to find employment can take advantage of numerous opportunities at the fair. Those facing significant difficulties can engage with our WorkSource staff to explore other services and programs that may be of assistance,” said Erin Monroe, CEO Workforce Snohomish.

In Congress, DelBene has worked across the aisle to enact legislation that boosts employment and job-training programs across the country, including in Washington state, so workers have the necessary skills to compete in the 21st century economy.
