Lawmakers’ holiday message: ‘Shop small’

“Small Business Saturday,” the holiday shopping antidote to Black Friday, has won enthusiastic backing from two members of Washington’s congressional delegation.

“Small businesses are the foundation of America’s economy across the country (and) small businesses on Main Street are the key drivers of job creation,” said Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., putting a policy stamp on shopping habits.

First-term U.S. Rep. Suzan DelBene is carrying her “Shop Small” message to two corners of the big 1st District, which extends all the way from Lummi Island and the U.S.-Canada border to the Snoqualmie Valley.

DelBene, a former Microsoft vice president,  will begin her Saturday by shopping and touring Country Village in Bothell, and then decamp for downtown Mount Vernon in Skagit County.
