Highlighting the Economic Benefits of Comprehensive Immigration Reform, DelBene Calls for House ActionDelBene touts new report that demonstrates how comprehensive reform leads to job growth, increased wages and reduced deficits
Washington, DC,

Today, Congresswoman Suzan DelBene called on House leadership to take action on comprehensive immigration reform to create jobs and grow the economy. A new White House report found that fixing our broken immigration system would spur job growth, raise wages, reduce deficits and strengthen Social Security. “Today’s report is the latest evidence that comprehensive immigration reform is good for our nation’s economy, working families and businesses. The health and future growth of many industries in Washington state, from agriculture, advanced manufacturing to the high-tech sector, are depending on Congress to pass legislation to fix our immigration system” said DelBene. “Everyone can agree that our current system is broken. We have an incredible opportunity now to put a new foundation in place and reform our immigration system in a way that strengthens our economy.” The White House report makes a compelling economic case for enacting reform without further delay. That’s why we need bipartisan, comprehensive immigration reform that protects workers, unites families and provides an earned pathway to citizenship. “The Senate has done its part to move us one step closer to reform, and they did it in a bipartisan manner. Now, it’s the House’s turn to act to pass comprehensive reform that is humane, practical, reduces backlogs and meets the demands of our economy going forward,” said DelBene. |
