Today, Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (WA-01) released the following after President Trump’s announcement on aluminum tariffs.

“Starting a trade war with our allies does nothing to address China’s actions to promote oversupply and market manipulation. Instead, it will damage our relationships, close off markets for our farmers and local businesses, jeopardize my constituents’ jobs and increase costs on American consumers.”

DelBene serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, which has jurisdiction over trade issues, and is co-chair of the Congressional Aluminum Caucus. Washington’s First District is home to an aluminum smelter in Ferndale, WA.
