Today, Congresswoman Suzan DelBene issued the following statement on President Biden’s State of the Union address. “Tonight, President Biden highlighted the historic progress that he and Congressional Democrats have made over the past two years - creating millions of good-paying jobs, lowering costs for working families, and starting to rebuild our nation’s infrastructure. He also made clear that there is more work to be done and we must continue advancing legislation that addresses the issues Americans are facing. “President Biden emphasized the urgent need to renew the expanded Child Tax Credit that cut childhood poverty in half and benefitted millions of children nationwide. This investment kept families afloat during the pandemic and helped parents pay bills, put enough food on the table, and afford other expenses for their kids, like child care and diapers. But every parent knows kids don’t grow up in just one year. I agree with the President, we must permanently reinstate the expanded Child Tax Credit so no American has to raise a family in poverty. “I was also glad to hear President Biden push for forward-thinking data privacy policies that will give people more control over their personal information, hold bad actors accountable, and help give us a seat at the international table. I will continue pushing for a national privacy standard that puts Americans in charge of their sensitive information, regardless of where they live. “I’m looking forward to working with my colleagues across the aisle to move President Biden’s agenda forward and deliver for middle-class Americans.” |
