DelBene, WA Delegation Members Reaffirm Support for High-Speed Rail in the Pacific Northwest

Today, Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (WA-01) joined members of the Washington congressional delegation in reaffirming support for high-speed rail and improved intercity passenger rail services in Washington state and the Pacific Northwest.

In a letter, the lawmakers applauded Federal Railroad Administration’s recent announcement of bipartisan infrastructure law grants for the Cascadia High-Speed Ground Transportation project and Amtrak Cascades corridors and emphasized the importance of future federal investment in the project.

“These investments are an important first step in investing in rail in the region that will help create a long-term development pipeline of capital projects, take meaningful steps to link communities and improve intercity passenger rail service in the Pacific Northwest. We look forward to working with FRA and Washington state to unlock further funding,” the lawmakers wrote.

The letter was also signed by U.S. Representatives Rick Larsen (WA-02), Derek Kilmer (WA-06), Pramila Jayapal (WA-07), Adam Smith (WA-09), and Marilyn Strickland (WA-10).
